Bing Du, a highly regarded player on the poker circuit, is accused of running an alleged illegal brothel from a home in Las Vegas.
She was arrested on October 27 by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) while participating in a poker tournament at a major casino on the Strip.
Bing Du who appeared on major events such as the World Series of Poker (WSOP), is facing charges of money laundering and misleading after a police operation earlier this year.
Metro police officers were investigating online ads for alleged prostitution, and the conversations led to an undercover officer offering massages and sex for $200.
Further surveillance around the home in the Spring Valley neighborhood revealed ongoing activity, while legal documents detailed « males arriving at the residence and leaving after a stay of 30 minutes to one hour. »
As KLAS reports, the police investigation includes scans of financial records and searches of businesses and properties linked to Du, but no clarity has been provided on how many premises are connected to the overall situation.
The poker player’s bank accounts « were primarily funded by cash deposits and peer-to-peer payments, » according to police, while a search of a property of interest turned up « rooms (with) door numbers with multiple mattresses directly on the ground » and business cards emblazoned with the words « Asian Beauties for Discreet Gentlemen. »
Police documents also list findings from a search of the trash, with large quantities of condoms and packaging found. Other items found indicated the property was being used as an illegal brothel, according to the documents.
Licensed brothels are actually legal in parts of Nevada, with state law stating that counties with more than 700,000 people are prohibited from hosting such venues.
Clark County (which includes Spring Valley) has about 2.4 million residents.
Bing Du is said to have told police officers that she was aware that the tenants were “providing prostitution services” at the home and that she was paid “to turn a blind eye to what the tenants were doing at the residence.
A second person faces similar charges related to running the alleged brothel at the same location.
Elsewhere in Las Vegas, a lawyer has taken a plea deal as part of a $460 million Ponzi case involving more than a thousand victims.
