West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo has urged fans to keep the faith after his side fell seven points behind the Premier League relegation zone.
Morgan Gibbs-White converted an 89th-minute penalty as Nottingham Forest went on to win by a goal the hammers 2-1 at the London Stadium.
Nuno has won just two games since taking charge of the Hammers and his side are starting to look lost.
The Hammers went 10 consecutive Premier League games without a win for the first time in an 11-match run between December 2006 and March 2007.
Nuno said: « We have to keep going, keep believing and keep working. It’s not over.
“It was very small differences and we were disallowed a goal that would have put us 2-0 up.
« After that, a lot of incidents with the penalty – a difficult game.
« I think we did enough to win the game. The guys worked really hard. I think we did enough to win it.
« It’s hard to ask the fans anything. It’s hard to explain. We understand their frustration and sadness and we’re all the same. What can we say? Keep helping us. Again they showed today when the team gives, they give back the support we need. Today the boys showed we’re here to keep fighting. »
Forest look well placed after rallying to win on the road and manager Sean Dyche was understandably pleased.
He said: “It wasn’t a classic by any means but you have to find a way to win.
« I’m happy with the mentality of the players. It was an uncomfortable game for both sides and a lot of noise around the game. To go 1-0 down and stay calm and have a second half that can win the game is very nice.
« These are uncomfortable games. I’ve been through a lot of these uncomfortable games. I’m happy to come out on the right side tonight and the players almost deserved it. »
