Back to careful yoga – bionicoldguy

Every night I do a stretch routine, partly based on what I have taken in books and yoga classes, and partly on the basis of physical therapy exercises that I have accumulated due to rehabilitation from various disorders or injuries. I find it much more relaxing and enjoyable if I do it carefully, paying attention to any exercise, not watching TV at the same time. I recommended this as a strategy to deal here during Covid.

Unfortunately, I am inclined to get out of this habit if there is something particularly interesting on television. The last time it happened was during the NBA playoffs last year. When they are the first, there is a great lag of watching games. So I decide that it is good to temporarily look at them while I do stretching. But the playoffs ended last June and I have never returned to do the routine. So much for the « temporary » excuse.

For the past few days, I have restored my careful stretch and confirmed how much it relaxed. We hope that next time I will be able to fight apologies.

This incident motivates me to read more about conscious yoga and I found books about it on Amazon. So I tried The practice of careful yoga by Hannah Ross. This is a good book with very good tips for injecting attention into your routine. However, I would only recommend for those who already have yoga or stretching a routine. Hannah gives a suggested routine at the end of the book, but the instructions are only in text, without pictures, which is difficult to learn about beginners.
