Bellingham backs Alonso amid mounting pressure on the Real Madrid boss following Manchester City’s loss

Xabi Alonso has the full backing of Jude Bellingham amid growing speculation that the Real Madrid manager could be in danger of losing his job following the defeat against Manchester City in the Champions League.

Los Blancos suffered their second consecutive loss at the Bernabeu beaten 2-1 by Manchester City just three days after losing to Celta Vigo in LaLiga.

Rodrigo ended his 32-goal drought but a comeback before the break thanks to Nico O’Reilly and Erling Haaland’s penalty swung the tie in City’s favor as Real’s dismal run was extended to just two wins from their last eight games in all competitions.

Their recent form piled further pressure on Alonso, who in November was subject to rumors of a rift in his relationship with star Vinicius Jr.

Real are currently seventh in the 36-team table and still on course to finish in the automatic qualification places.

However, they trail Barcelona by four points in La Liga and have won just once in five Spanish league games.

But Bellingham believes Real have all the tools at their disposal to get their season back on track.

Asked where his side had gone wrong in the past few weeks, the 22-year-old told TNT Sports: « It’s probably a number of things. We’re still trying to sort it out in the dressing room, regardless of what’s going on outside. That kind of noise is not going to help.

« It’s about us trying to figure it out in the dressing room. I think one of the things that’s probably quite obvious is how we’re managing the games at the moment. Some moments where we have to suffer, it feels like we’re always falling behind and it puts us on the back foot and maybe makes us play in a way we don’t want to.

« We’ve got what it takes to turn it around. I have full faith that this season isn’t over just because we’ve been in bad form. As players, it’s killing us and we’ll try everything to turn it around. »

Amid the increased heat for Alonso, the England midfielder insisted the squad were « 100 per cent » behind the former Real man, adding: « The manager has been great. I’ve got a great relationship with him personally. A lot of the boys too.

« After the first couple of games where we finished in a draw, we had some great internal conversations where we felt we were going to be on the back of that poor form. The last couple of games we let ourselves down.

« Nobody’s downing tools, nobody’s complaining. We’re going to have to take a little bit of the s**t on the chin, but we’re going to have to keep fighting and bouncing forward. »
