Inter go top of Serie A as Napoli lose

Inter went top of the Serie A table with a 2-0 win over Lazio, while Napoli were beaten by Bologna.

Lautaro Martinez and Ange-Joan Bony were on target for last year’s beaten Champions League finalists.

The victory brought Inter to 24 points after 11 games – level with Roma, but with a better goal difference.

Napoli are two points behind – with AC Milan also on 22 – after Bologna won 2-0.

Thijs Dallinga and Jhon Lucumi scored to keep Antonio Conte’s side without a win in their last three games in all competitions.

In Germany, Wolfsburg sacked coach Paul Simonis after the team’s 2-1 defeat by Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga on Friday.

Simonis, nicknamed ‘Gauda Guardiola’ because of his passing resemblance to Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola, took over at Wolfsburg in June after guiding Dutch side Go Ahead Eagles to their first win in the KNVB Dutch Cup in April.

« The 40-year-old was released on Sunday evening, » Wolfsburg said in a statement. Under-19 coach Daniel Bauer will replace him until further notice, the club announced.
