Inter suffered a Scudetto defeat with a 1-1 draw against Fiorentina

Inter Milan missed a chance to restore their eight-point lead at the summit Series A as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Fiorentina.

Second-placed AC Milan were made to work hard for a 3-2 win over Torino on Saturday, but the Rossoneri will be encouraged as they head into the international break with just trailing by six points after the mistake of their main rivals.

Pio Esposito’s first-minute header got Inter off to a flying start, but Christian Kivu’s side failed to build on that.

Moise Kean had a goal disallowed for offside for Fiorentina, but they equalized 13 minutes from time through Sher Ndur’s introduction.

Inter had a chance to win in the dying seconds but Esposito was brilliantly denied by David de Gea.

Elsewhere in Serie A, Como strengthened their grip on fourth place with a 5-0 win over struggling Pisa as they capitalized on Juventus’ draw with Sassuolo in style.

Roma moved level on points with fifth-placed Juve by beating Lecce 1-0. Atalanta beat Verona by the same scoreline, while Lazio won 2-0 against Bologna.

Five Star Stuttgart

The Bundesliga Champions League race saw Stuttgart move up to third with a 5-2 win over Augsburg, with Denis Undav on target twice in an excellent away win.

Paul Nebel’s 89th-minute goal earned Mainz a 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt that boosted their survival hopes.

Mainz are six points off the relegation playoffs, still occupied by St. Pauli, after losing 2-1 at Freiburg.

Just three points separate third and sixth in the battle for the Champions League in Ligue 1 after home defeats to Marseille and Lyon.

Marseille were beaten 2-1 at the Stade Velodrome by Lille, Thomas Meunier canceling out Ethan Nwaneri’s opener before Olivier Giroud scored an 86th-minute winner.

Goals from Magnes Akliusch and Florin Balogun, the latter from the penalty spot, saw Monaco come from behind to beat Lyon 2-1 away from home. Lyon finished the match with 10 men after Nicolas Tagliafico was sent off late on.

Marseille remain third, two points ahead of Lyon and Lille, with Monaco a point behind.

Other Ligue 1 results saw 3-2 victories for Strasbourg and FC Paris over Nantes and Le Havre respectively, while Rennes drew 0-0 with Metz.
