'It's my job' - Haaland on reaching 100 Premier League goals

‘It’s my job’ – Haaland on reaching 100 Premier League goals

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland says scoring goals is his job after becoming the fastest player to reach 100 Premier League goals in an astonishing 5-4 win against Fulham.

Haaland struck in Craven Cottage’s opener reach the landmark three figures in his 111th appearance in the Premier League.

Alan Shearer held the previous record, scoring 100 in 124 games. Haaland already has 144 goals for the club since joining in 2022, but believes there should be more.

« It’s a proud moment, » he told Sky Sports. « The 100 club is a huge thing. To do it so quickly is amazing. I’m proud, I’m happy.

« I’ve said it many times – a City striker has to score a lot of goals. That’s my job, that’s what I try to do. And I’m not bad at it!

« I should have had a hat-trick, I had a few chances. I have to train. »

Haaland hit the crossbar twice in a crazy game and when asked if he had another 100 in him simply replied: « Why not? ».

Shearer remains the Premier League’s all-time top scorer with 260, while Liverpool’s Mo Salah has the most players still playing in the league at 190.

« (It was) chaotic, » Haaland said. « Nine goals in a game is too many. If you’re watching this game at home, it should be the match of the day like you said! It was a crazy game.

« At 5-2 or 5-3 I was close to a goal and then they went and made it 5-3, so that’s football, that’s the beauty of football. That’s why we love the game. »
