The cold and fog I mentioned last week continued, but I still rode well. Also, last week Costco had a good sale on GoPro Hero 13 cameras, so my wife bought me one as a Christmas present and I’ve been trying it out on a few trips. I like it because it has voice activation so hands are free. I tried both photos and videos. Photos are great and you can also extract good photos from video footage. But I have to raise my camera stand because it catches my phone and handlebars in the frame. It’s easy to edit for photos, but not for videos. I also need to get good at video editing so I can extract short clips. So in this post I will only show a few still photos.
On Sunday I went on a long drive on a particularly foggy day. Cars were barely visible, just dim headlights in the fog. I was also afraid that if someone was driving with their lights off, I might not see them at all. So I headed to the Coyote Creek Trail. By the time I got them the visibility had improved so I could see pedestrians and other cyclists well enough.

Yesterday my group rode the hills east of Gilroy starting at the top of Roop Road at the Mendoza Ranch entrance to Harvey Bear Park. I usually carpool to this trip with a friend, riding him upright. But I’ve had neck problems on longer upright rides, so I decided to ride home on my flatbed, taking extra batteries. It made for a long ride, a total of 4 1/2 hours of riding time. The good thing was that it was sunny as soon as I left the house.
