One of the things that maintain my active gray cells is to learn everything I can do for medical conditions I have. So I continued to examine the paravalable leakage of the aortic valve with Google’s deep surveyS So far, I have asked him for a review of the condition, for more details on treatment options and exercise recommendations. The reports received are all gathered hereS The report « The risk of exercising aorta hypertrophy of the aorta » was a bit of opening the eyes. There is definitely a danger of spending it with my condition, which can lead to pathological growth of the left ventricle (which is chronically overworked). It needs a change in thinking. For years I have had a mentality of the « aging athlete » that pushing him a little in my workouts is a good thing because it slows down aging. Now this is probably not true and I have to try to maintain fitness and muscle mass as much as possible, but more importantly, I avoid tension of the heart.
So I reduced my training back, up to an hour an hour. And I only do one more difficult day to train the legs and one of the upper body workouts a week. I also reduced the length of the more difficult training for a session back a little. I also carry the heart rate monitor during exercise and I avoid overcome 100 beats per minute. I will discuss all this when I continue with my cardiologist, but for now I feel comfortable that I am conservative enough.
I still do my group riding, which is now my longest trip of the week, about 2 1/2 hours. But I use enough electrical help as needed to maintain the pace calmly and hang near the back of the group. If my dock frowns at this long trip when I see it, I can always miss the group ride and just make a short trip to meet them for lunch, so I still get the social benefits.
