After I missed Champions League qualification on the final day of last season, Nottingham Forest played in the Europa League for the first time since 1995/95, when the competition was known as the UEFA Cup.

Utrecht finished fourth in the Dutch Eredivisie and returned to the competition proper for the first time since 2010/11, when they drew both of their legs against Liverpool 0-0 and held Napoli twice during the group stage.
