Indian students are considering their choices for their education, and « studying abroad » is no longer synonymous with the United States, says Ca Nitin Kaushik. For decades, the United States symbolizes authority and opportunities, but the migration trends show a decisive transition to practicality and economic clarity.
According to the update report 2024-25, Indian applications to US universities have fallen by 13%, while Germany and the United Arab Emirates have quickly become popular destinations. Germany now attracts 32.6% of Indian students due to low or free tuition fees and strong labor markets. In the meantime, the United Arab Emirates has risen to 42% of Indian students, driving on the appeal of global campuses, geographical intimacy and relatively easier immigration routes.
Why the United States loses shine
The decline in interest in the United States may be due to rising tuition costs, complex visa obstacles and uncertain work routes after graduation. These obstacles forcing Indian families to re -evaluate whether the US degree is guaranteed by the heavy investments of the US degree they are looking for financial stability and return.
Germany and the United Arab Emirates rise as an alternative
The model of reasonably priced German -priced education, combined with its reputation in terms of solid economy and job opportunities, has set it as a practical and attractive choice. In contrast, the United Arab Emirates utilizes their unique blend of global universities, regional intimacy and policies that support international students to become a large university.
Move on
As Kaushik stated in X’s (former Twitter) in the message: Indians are quietly writing ‘studying abroad a dream’. For decades, the United States was the default choice. But now – things are changing. Families want clarity, the return on invested capital and stability only for ‘brand value’. New Method of Thinking: Practicality wins the value. “
With Indian students and their families who prioritize cost -effectiveness, labor market harmonization and immigration flexibility, the United States once is clearly under pressure.
