Riding Between Storms – BionicOldGuy

Our wintry showers made a big appearance last Thursday. It rained all day so I rode indoors with a sneaker. It was surprisingly relaxing because I treated it like a meditation, riding with my eyes closed, which is good on a trainer. Since then the rain has come and gone and I’ve been sneaking out into the open as much as I can in my rain gear which works well if it’s only raining lightly. I try to avoid heavier rain as it can hurt to get hit in the face when riding a decent bracket.

I was hoping for good weather last Tuesday as I led our group ride, hitting a pinch for our normal guide Chris while she rode. We lucked out and had a pretty good day for the ride, which went up the hills southwest of Morgan Hill and down to the sports complex in Gilroy on some good bike lanes before coming back. We got a little sprinkled on the way back, but not too bad. Then on Wednesday it was overcast with no rain so I was able to ride longer and harder. Yesterday we had some rain during my ride which cleared up later and now we have 6 days of sun forecast. All in all it was a fun week of riding and dodging the raindrops. We have about four inches total in this set of storms, for about 5 1/2 this season total, a good early start.
