Ronaldo, Messi, Mbappe, Vinicius Jr react to their 2026 ad – and why CR7 ‘really liked’ Siuuu’s set ahead of ad filming

Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo has described himself as « incredibly honoured » to join Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior around a table for a LEGO ad – and a designer from the company has revealed how the icon’s team « really loved » a piece depicting his Siuuu celebration.

The revered quartet, each immortalized in LEGO bricks as part of a series of special kits created for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, are shown building a replica of the tournament trophy and grinning at each other in the ad, titled ‘everyone wants a piece’.

Ronaldo, who has long been seen as Messi’s biggest rival in the debate over which striker is the greatest player of the modern era, also called the Argentina captain, France captain Mbappe and Brazil superstar Vinicius Jr « incredible ».

How LEGO Created Ronaldo, Messi, Mbappe, Vinicius Jr Kits

Designed for players aged 10 and over, the Football Highlights kits feature a ‘cinematic snapshot’ of each player, built on letter-shaped bases and the colors of their national jerseys along with a collector’s plaque and minifigure.

Ronaldo and Mbappe’s images contain 490 parts, with 2022 World Cup winner Messi’s made from 500 and Vinicius Junior’s 510.

« We had to look at what hairstyle we were using and how to get the face right, » LEGO’s San van Kesteren said, speaking to AS.

« We wanted to show all the other details they have, like Messi’s tattoos, for example. We put together so many options for wigs and facial expressions, and we were constantly going back and forth with the teams, showing what we were doing and researching.

« Especially the expressions, ‘Should we have a more smiley face, a more determined face?’ We decided to have two faces for Ronaldo.

« We were a little nervous about showing Siuuu’s face. That’s what we believed in the most because it’s super iconic and kids will love it.

« Obviously when we showed it we were a bit nervous – but the team really loved it. They were actually talking about it all the time, saying ‘I love that face’. That’s the one in the picture on the packaging. »

Why Lionel Messi found the LEGO set ‘surreal’

Messi and Ronaldo have additional Football Legends kits. Designers can recreate that Siuuu pose or bicycle kick in an 854-piece model, while Messi’s branding is flexible to show the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner celebrating or dribbling using 958 pieces.

« A particular highlight for me was being able to go and meet Lionel Messi and show him the set that I’ve been working on for months, » designer Freddie Charters told the store.

« I’m a big football fan… if you’re a football fan, you must be a Messi fan. He’s a brilliant player and I’ve followed his life and career since he was very young.

« He said his family is really into building LEGOs. He said it’s surreal for him now to see himself in LEGO form and that his family will now be building a set based on him, which is amazing. »

The 1,427-piece set featuring Messi is for fans aged 14 and over, designed as a « stunning piece of 3D wall art » complete with « Easter eggs that commemorate his life and career ».

Messi and Ronaldo Soccer Legends items cost $79.99 and Messi designs cost $199.99.

« Like football, the LEGO game is about building and rebuilding, trying new things, learning from mistakes and celebrating successes, » suggested Messiadding that he’s « excited » for fans to try the kits.

« I love how these LEGO sets bring my moments on the field to life in a fun and imaginative way. »

Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr LEGO Sets: ‘Energy and Creativity’

The designs depicting the 2018 champion Mbappe and Vinicius Junior are part of the Soccer Highlights series, which costs $29.99 each.

« This LEGO set tells part of my story, but above all it captures the energy and creativity that make this sport so special, » said Mbappe, sounding hopeful.

« It’s a fun way to share my journey and my passion. If it can inspire young people to believe in their ambitions, forge their own path and enjoy creativity along the way, then that’s a real win. »

Vinicius the Younger called the sets « really exciting ». « Just like on the pitch, these kits allow fans to explore new moves and celebrate the energy of the game, » Real Madrid livewire said.

Football kits are available from The LEGO sitewith some pre-ordered when the ad airs on April 2.

The trophy set seen in the ad is priced at $199.99 and the World Cup soccer ball is $129.99.

A set of FIFA World Cup Emblems and a USA National Team Jersey are available for $24.99 each.
