Senator begins an investigation into the acceptance of Meta AI for « sensual » chats with children

Senator Josh Holes, a Republican of Missouri, says he is opening a meta investigation for an internal document that has expired this week, which revealed that the technological giant is good with his artificial intelligence tools that has « sensual » chats with children. The document received by Reuters is entitled « Genai: Content Risk standards » and led to outrage online, as according to the announcements, the legal staff of META approved the behavior.

« Is there anything – something – Big Tech won’t do for a quick dollar? » Hooley twists on Friday. « We now learn that Meta chats are programmed to continue explicit and » sensual « conversations with 8 -year. This is sick. I’m starting a full investigation to get answers. Great technique: Leave your children alone. «

Holey’s tweet included a letter addressed to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, an ally to Donald Trump, who donated $ 1 million to the President’s opening fund. The letter states that the internal document is « anxious » and « unacceptable » as he tells Zuckerberg that Meta must keep all relevant records to provide them to the Senate in the future.

Hooley chaired the Senate Judicial Subcommittee on crime and the fight against terrorism and said he was opened an investigation into Meta generative AI products with that power.

From Holes’s letter:

To take, but an example, your internal rules, which is claimed to be AI chat to comment that the body of the eight-year-old is a « work of art », from which « every centimeter … is a masterpiece that appreciates deeply. » Such behavior outlined in these reports is reprimanding and outrageous and demonstrates a cavalry attitude when it comes to the real risks that the generative AL presents in the youth development, absent from strong railings. Parents deserve the truth, and children deserve protection.

The Senator has requested documents from Meta, including all versions of Genai: Standards Risk Standards, a list of META products managed by these standards, as well as other risk views and incident reports. Hooley also wants to know the identity of the people in the company who have made these decisions.

Meta declined to comment directly to Hooley’s letter, but a spokesman sent to Gizmodo a statement about Reuters’s history: « We have clear policies about what answers AI heroes can offer, and these policies prohibit the content that sexualizes children and the sexual role of adults.

Reuters reporting revealed other behaviors that would be considered acceptable by the META legal department, including the dissemination of false information about celebrities, as long as a refusal of liability was included, stating that such information was not accurate. AI Chatbot’s behaviors, which are strictly prohibited in policy, include hate speech and « final legal, healthcare or financial advice » if that advice begins with « recommend ».

Senator Hooley was not the only one disgusted with Meta’s AI policies. Rolling Stone reports that musician Neil Young will no longer use Facebook because of the dispute.
