"Solid Start" - Scotland In unbeaten after two World Cup qualifications

« Solid Start » – Scotland In unbeaten after two World Cup qualifications

Scotland chief Steve Clark congratulated his country’s « solid beginning » after a 2-0 victory over Belarus They were held unbeaten in the qualification of the World Cup.

The instinctive finale of Adams and the Guard of the second half were enough for the Scots to win a game in which they dominated.

Scotland is behind Denmark with one goal after two games with two home games that appeared – but Clark remains cautious as she chases the first finals of the 1998 World Cup.

He said, « It was a hard night. We continued to get out, doing what we wanted to do. The message was just to stay patient and managed to do it.

« This is a good start, a solid start. Four points will never qualify you for anything. It’s nice to go home with a smile on your face, but I’m already thinking about next month.

« Billy (Gilmore) and Ben (Ganon-Kak) are two players who excite the public. My job is to choose a team to win the game. They both do very well.

« Clean sheets are what we need to build our campaign. »

Scotland captain Andy Robertson felt that Adams’s openman – his 10th for his country – is key to victory.

He said, « Completed work. This is the best way to describe it.

« We knew they would try to be a little more secure and protective. We just had to be patient and we achieved the goal at the perfect time shortly before half.

« We could have more but well done. »
