The Brentford director claims that Brian Mbumo can be left with bees, despite Manchester United interest

The Brentford Football Director, Phil Jails, confirmed that the club was in a « permanent dialogue » with Brian Mbumo, against the backdrop of a strong interest from Manchester United, who saw two offers rejected for the attacker.

Despite 25-year-old Cameroon International, expresseding his desire to make Old Trafford moving, Brentford maintains a deal until the Red Devils fulfill their assessment.

Giles spoke with the BBC Sport on Monday, explaining that he had « not so much » progress in a potential transfer.

« He had a fantastic season, » Giles said. « We were expecting a lot of interest in him, we had a lot of interest in him.

« He has his ideas about where he wants to take his career. He is within his right to do so.

« It is not impossible that he is still a Brentford player next season if we agree that he will stay. »

Giles was aware that the club would only sanction the sale if the conditions were appropriate for them.

« Every club will tell you that, » he added. « If it’s not the right deal, why would we do it?

« He is certainly one of our best players, if not our best player, and we need our best players. There is no harm to keep your best players. »

Giles also provided an update to Christian Norgaard, confirming that Brentford’s captain is approaching a transfer to Arsenal.

« We have been talking to Arsenal in the last week to 10 days, » Giles said. « As it stands, it is not yet completed, but it is directed in this direction.

« If that happened to him, then fantastic, he won it. He was a brilliant captain for us.

« Let’s see how this story ends, but we are quite open to this interest there. »
