Tyrone Mings was one of Aston Villa’s characters at Club Brugge last night, with his incredible permission ending the « unfinished business » from his country’s visit to Belgium earlier in the season.

Villa lost 1-0 to the Yang Braiddadtrion phase in the Champions League group phase in November, with Mings giving away a penalty winning from the match after a catastrophic mix with goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

But he was exceptional when he returned to Bruges, as Villa won the first match of his round of 16 playoffs 3-1.

In particular, he distinguished himself by a second half, which somehow prevented the header from giving up Hans Vanaken, who would find the angle with the game delicately placed on 1-1.

Mings said, « I was more than happy to go back here and play again at this stadium because I think we had an unfinished business.

« I am very proud of what we did tonight. I really liked this game. We played against them (in the League phase) and knew a little what to expect.

« The game was exactly as we expected. We can be proud of both our defensive and attacking games. « 

Mings was also effective at the other end with a head that allowed Leon Bailey to give an early lead to a villa.

The Maxim de Cuyper equalized, but a late goal from Brandon Bear and a sentence of Marco Asensio handed over to the men of Unai Emery a strong advantage of returning to Birmingham for the return game next week.

The chief of Villa pointed to Mings for praise afterwards, saying, « The first experience he had here was not good.
