What is different this time? | Nerd Fitness

Today is the most hope and optimism filled with optimism in the year.

That’s great!

Whatever goals or resolutions you have set for yourself, I am excited for you!

We are all trying to improve and although things have not worked the way we wanted in the past, we hope this time It will be different.

The musician Nick Cave describes hope as « optimism with a broken heart » and I think it’s beautiful. We all try to be different when the change is so devilishly difficult.

If you are trying to build a new workout habit or change the numbers in the scale this year, I congratulate you. The setting of a change is very commendable.

But in order to give ourselves the best chance to achieve our goal, we must combine the goal with some self-reflection and self-awareness.

Here are two questions you need to ask yourself when we start 2025 …

Question 1: What is different this time?

I am proud of you that it started again.

But what is different in this experience?

If you do what you always do, you will get what you always have.

The best forecast for future behavior is past behavior.

If you choose the same goal or strategy you have tried (unsuccessfully) in the past, the end result will be the same: another lost year of « Why can’t I bring my act together? »

So, be deliberate for what is different this time!

Not just « go to an XYZ diet » or « Give up all the sugar forever » or « Train for a marathon » again, especially if you have tried these things before and you cannot stick to them.

This time something must be different:

  • Make less changes.
  • Choose one goal and focus on it.
  • Choose a different workout.
  • Choose a different diet or change of diet.
  • Choose different times of the day to train.
  • Hire a friend to join you so you don’t do it yourself.
  • Make your new desired behavior useful or necessaryS

Prove yourself that you have learned something from your previous attempts. Don’t let past failures be in vain – they showed you what doesn’t work For you.

Try something different this time!

Question 2: What are you afraid of?

You are currently full of momentum and it’s great.

But in three weeks, life will happen and something will go wrong.

What is your trend when this happens in the past?

We ask each NF Coaching Client Before they begin, « What are you most nervous from? »

This answer is something they are aware of as a result of their previous attempts:

Will you take up and decide « To rest while things are slow? » Great! Now you know when this little voice in your head tells you this, you can prepare for it, plan to do something different and decide that you don’t have have to listen to this voice in your head.

Will you have a bad day and go out of the rails? Great! Now you know that when you have a bad day, you can forgive yourself, not look back in anger or guilt, and return immediately.

Will you give up even though you really want to push? Great! This happens to all of us when motivation decreases after a few weeks. Think about Add Pact to Ulysses To protect yourself from your weaknesses or make a bet with a friend who holds you responsible.

NF coach Matt Mayers was recently on Mental golf podcast with Josh Nichols – And in the brand 24:30 in the episode Matt pointed something to Josh, which surprised him:

« You told me before you started, » I know I will get out of the gates, but about 3 weeks after that I will burn and disappear. « 

And I said, « Thank you for informing me: » I had all these alarms and alerts ready to register with you many times about the 21 -day sign! « 

Josh had the self -awareness to know where to fuck in the future, he and the coach Matt planned for it and overcame the hump together.

Since then, they have worked together for two months (and counts), and Josh has only missed a day to check and disappeared one day has not caused Josh’s normal behavior to start!

This time can be different

We all set ourselves the goal of changing ourselves and even when we are self -aware …

We often eat more than we can chew:

Our goals and hopes often outweigh the reality that we are sinful, busy, complex people living unpredictable life.

That’s good!

If we are aware of these things, if we can try differently … then even if that Then Experience also does not work, we can remove this strategy from the list of potential successful paths and try again.

This is anyway life: try, fail, correct, restart.
