It’s been a big year for Blueythe beloved Australian animated series about the whimsical adventures of the canine Hiller family. Although there hasn’t been a new episode since 2024 since the season three finale, The Sign, its coda, The Surprise and a batch of mini-sodas, the BBC-distributed and Disney+ franchise from Ludo Studio continues to dominate the ratings charts – and the hearts of fans young and young at heart.
Bluey is poised to once again become the most streamed show of the year. It topped the Nielsen streaming charts in 2024 and its fandom is only growing indeed life as audiences eagerly await the feature film coming in 2027. It speaks to the power of the pop culture phenomenon that families and childless adults have embraced thanks to the animated film’s incredibly heartfelt and imaginative children’s tales. Whether you have kids or not, we’ve all been Bluey and Bingo’s age, and the show really hits that nostalgia for the days when we didn’t have a care in the big world.
Personally, as a parent who started out as a fan before the kids came along, it’s different now and feels like a comforting friend in the baby trenches. Like many, I cling to every news break related to what’s next Bluey, and with that in mind, here’s an update on the franchise’s presence this holiday season and what’s ahead before then Bluey: The Movie hits theaters in 2027.
In addition to streaming on Disney+ and the official Bluey YouTube, no new minisodes or extra season announced before the release of Ludo Studio Bluey: The Movie on August 6, 2027. Yes, that’s basically over a year without any feature-length content outside of show creator Joe Broom and crew Bluey worked hard on the film. In a letter published in 2024, Brum announced that the feature would be his final contribution to the show he created, but noted that Bluey will continue without him.
If you want to see Bluey on the TV screen earlier, there’s always the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. If you missed it on NBC (it aired live the morning before this post was published on Thursday, November 27), you can stream it on Peacock after the fact. Fans will be able to see Bluey as part of the balloons floating above spectators on the streets of New York for the iconic parade.

The only place in the state where Bluey fans can meet Bluey and Bingo remains the immersive experience of family retailer CAMP. The New York flagship and locations in Boston, Houston, Miami, Minneapolis and Philadelphia currently have the rights from Ludo to host meet and greets with Bluey and Bingo for immersive Heeler house activations; families can visit the iconic abode and re-enact moments from the show. This Christmas season, locations except for Minneapolis and Miami will host a new version of the experience, where families can play seasonal games inspired by the Santa’s Porch episode, craft ornaments, and sit through stories interrupted by Unicorse (who would probably say, « Ugh, why should I care? » about all that).
And if you happen to include Australia in your winter travels, you can of course visit Bluey’s World in Brisbane, Queensland to check out the walking amusement park. Like Ghibli Park in Japan, the main Homeland offering is more of an immersive recreation of the animated world, but you can visit with Bluey, Bingo and now Muffin for special entertainment and events. Focused more on play and games than riding, this experience is official in the world Bluey destination by Ludo Studio.
However, if you’re hoping for rides, don’t worry! At the British Alton Towers Resort, the first in the world Bluey theme park is set to open at CBeebies Land in spring 2026, joining others at the resort Bluey offerings including a stage show and Heeler family meet and greets, as well as themed hotel rooms.
Now for an interesting update on Disney Parks and Experiences. The Internet remembers that a year ago, Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Experiences, revealed that Bluey will be coming to Disney Experiences in 2025. It’s now November and Bluey and Bingo seem to have missed their flights or boats to Disneyland and Walt Disney World, although appearances on select Disney cruises in Australia and New Zealand were set to begin in October this year. When reached for comment, a Disney spokesperson told io9 they had nothing to share at this time.
All we want is to meet Bluey, Bingo and Muffin as grandmas. Imagine a Bluey Grannies are superimposed on Disneyland’s Autopia and Walt Disney World’s Tomorrowland Speedway with characters in their granny mobiles all over the place and the music from these episodes soundtracking a very otherwise dated attraction that little kids can ride.

Okay, it’s the holidays, so we need to talk about the merchandise game for both collectors and people with kids. And one thing we really need to shout out is how Australia gets the good stuff, like Hammerbarn’s official collaboration with Bunnings (the hardware store that inspired it), which is exclusive to the show’s home country.
As a movie snob who collects in-universe-specific dumb stuff, I’m so mad I can’t get the Dog Gnome that Bluey and Bingo get for their home. I don’t want another inflatable or inflatable form of Bluey; I want a Gnome Dog! Yes, imagine that last sentence said in my best muffin voice. They also have long dogs and Hammerbarn cosplay vests – hell fare!

For US collectors, Record Store Day Black Friday will feature a fifth birthday edition of Bluey super clean zoetrope vinyl of Fruit Bat Bluey in flight if you want to fight for your life (against me) for it. Easier to achieve is a new festive Christmas record, Santa Veranda, by show composer Geoff Bush and Bluey Music team (Walmart has a gold press).
Gamers can also find two new ones Bluey in-universe entertainment options for the whole family. It is now available Bluey: Bust-a-Move, Nex Playground’s interactive, motion-driven multiplayer where you can participate in mini-games inspired by iconic Bluey episodes. This is the second edition since then Bluey: The Video Game, which releases on Nintendo Switch and PS5 in 2023.
What we really expect though is Bluey’s Quest for the Golden Pen—the game for all ages created in collaboration with Bluey creator Joe Brum, the BBC and Halfbrick Studios. Brumm wrote the story for the game adventure inspired by the episodes where Bluey and Bingo go on quests in the world of painting.
The game will launch globally on December 11th first as an App Store exclusive for iPhone, iPad and Mac, followed by a Google Play release on January 10th. Later in 2026, Halfbrick, along with PM Studios, will release the game on PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
