« This should hurt » – Arteta thinks about the exit of the Champions League to the PSG

Mikel Arteta says that the elimination of the Champions League semifinals in the hands of PSG « must » hurt « its players if they are one day to win the race.

The artillerymen fell under the penultimate obstacle after a 2-1 loss at the second leg of Parc des Princes-3-1 in the set of French champions marching on the face Inter Milan in Munich in the final.

Fabian Ruiz and Ahraf Hakimi gave control of PSG over the tie in Paris, but only after blisters from visitors who saw goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to take a string of impressive rescue at the beginning.

Vitin saw a penalty rescued by David Paradise shortly before Bukayo Saka pulled a back for the men in Arteta with 15 minutes.

After that, the wing of England wasted a glorious chance to further reduce the deficit, but it was Louis Enrique’s country that progresses to compete for the largest trophy in European club football.

As long as he is favorable in the defeat, Artette believes that his team is better than the two in the course of equality.

« First of all, (I want) to congratulate PSG on reaching the final. The assessment I would make when I was a little more cool, but the feedback I received immediately from their bench was that we were much better than them, » said the Arsenal chief.

« When you look at the two games that was their best player on the pitch? This was their goalkeeper.

« He made a difference for them in equality. And I think we were close. Much closer than the result shows. But unfortunately we are out.

« I am very proud of the players. What we did today, the way we started, how we did the pressure. After 20 minutes, this should be 3-0. But in the competition there is a need for something to go on its way and not do it (for us). »

Arsenal is now ready for another trophy season – their fifth in a row. And Arteta believes that his players need to learn from the pain of the defeat in order to end their land from silver vessels.

« I’m upset. Yes, we were very close. Yes, for long periods of two games we were much better than them, » Arteta said.

« But we are not there and it must hurt. If we want to win this race and go there, we must realize this.

« There are some things that are on us. Understanding we are out is not the way I look at it. »
