Co -founder of Elon Musk’s XAI departs the company

Igor Babushkin, co -founder of the Elon Musk XAI startup, announced his departure from the company on Wednesday in a publication of the X. Babuschkin LED Engineering teams in XAI and helped to build in one of the leading AI AI developers.

« Today was my last day at XAI, the company that helped start with Elon Musk in 2023, » Babushkin wrote in the Post Office. « I still remember the day we first met with Elon, talked for hours about AI and what the future might have. We both felt that a new AI company was needed with a different type of mission. »

Babuschkin leaves the XAI to launch its own risk capital company, Babuschkin Ventures, which he believes will support the AI Research Research and return start -ups that « progress humanity and unlock the mysteries of our universe. »

The co -founder of XAI says he was inspired to start the company after dinner with Max Wagmark, the founder of the institute for the future of life, in which they discussed how AI systems could be built safely to encourage the flourishing of future generations. In his post, Babushkin says his parents immigrated to the United States from Russia in pursuing a better life for their children.

The departure of Babushkin comes in a few months for the XAI, in which the company has fascinated in several scandals related to its AI Chatbot Grok. For example, it was found to quote Musk’s personal opinions when he tried to answer conflicting questions. In another case, the XAI chatbot switched to anti -Semitic ranks and was called the « palechitler ». Most recently, XAI has introduced a new feature in Grok that allowed users to make AI -generated videos resembling naked public figures such as Taylor Swift.

These scandals have sometimes overshadowed the work of XAI models, which are the most up-to-date on several indicators compared to AI models from Openai, Google Deepmind and Anthropic.

Prior to the co-founder of XAI, Babuschkin was part of a Google Deepmind research team, which Alphastar pioneer in 2019, a breakthrough AI system that could beat the highest ranked players in Starcraft video game. Babushkin also worked as a researcher at Openai in the years before launching Chatgpt.

In his post, Babushkin describes in detail some of the challenges they faced with the construction of XAI. He notes that the veterans of the industry called the goal of XAI to build its memphis, Tennessee Supercomputer in just three months « impossible ».

XAI was able to build its AI supercomputer in record time, but environmentalists warn that temporary gas turbines that feed clusters pump emissions into neighboring communities and exacerbate their long -standing health problems.

Nevertheless, Babushkin says he is already looking back at his time in Xai and « feels like a proud parent, driving after sending his child to college. »
