A former software developer has been sentenced to four years in prison to sabotage his former employer after leaving the company.
55 -year -old Davis Lou was convicted of installing a « murder switch » on his former employer’s network by planting a malicious code designed to collapse his servers if he was fired.
The Kill switch was activated when the company terminated LU employment and deactivated its powers, causing the murder switch, « Isdlenabledinad » – citing whether the LU account was still active in the company’s active directory. The incident locked thousands of employees to have access to company systems.
The Ministry of Justice, which pursues the case, said the LU employer, who was not mentioned, but according to the announcements, at Power Tech Company Eaton, said the incident had caused hundreds of thousands of dollars damage.
LU has been found in part through the history of Internet demand, the Ministry of Justice reported, which includes searches in a study of « methods to escalate privileges, hide processes and quickly delete files. »
