Disney pays $ 10 million to find out for violations of children’s privacy

It Walt Disney Company Pay $ 10 million to resolve the legal case of the Federal Trade Commission, which claims that the entertainment company allows the collection of personal data to 13 -year -old children in violation of federal law.

On Tuesday, the FTC reported that Disney violates the Children’s Online Privacy Act, which required children-centered applications and websites to obtain parents’ consent before collecting personal information for children under the age of 13.

The complaint accuses Disney for not marked some of the videos uploaded on YouTube for « Made for Children » that gave Disney’s YouTube a chance to collect children under 13 and use this information targeted advertising for children.

« This solution does not apply to Disney -owned and usable digital platforms, but is limited to sharing some content on the YouTube platform, » Disney spokesman said in a statement to Reuters.

« Disney has a long tradition of adopting the highest demands on compliance with the Privacy Act of Children, and we are still committed to investing in the tools needed as the leader of this space, » the spokesman continued.
