Anthony reveals that he rejected Bayern Muich’s move in favor of Betis’s true return

Brazilian striker Antony explained that he had rejected a proposal for big money from Bayern Munich because he had already promised to return to Real Betis.

The permanent move of the 25-year-old Manchester United youth to Betis was slowly delayed on Friday, but during that time Bayern tried to kidnap the deal, reporting that he was proposing to double his salary.

However, Anthony moved forward with the transfer and signed a contract with Betis until June 2030, after both clubs reached an agreement just before the window closed on Monday.

Back to Betis

« One day before the deal was over, I talked to the people in Bayern, » Anthony told Cadena Cope Radio in Spain.

« But when I spoke to Bayern, I told them that the deal with Betis was 95% completed and that I would honor my word. I would do it out of respect and love and because I know I was very happy here.

« I don’t know if they offered me 7 million euros (in salaries). With all the respect I have to Bayern, which is a world -class club, I am calm with the decision I made. I do not know what will happen in the future, but I feel very calm from the decision I made. »

The return of Anthony comes after a successful loan spell in Betis in the second half of last season, where he rediscovered form with nine goals in 26 appearances. His performances helped the club to reach the Conference League final and also won him a reminder of Brazil’s national team.

Although he joined United in the summer, he was left by Ruben Amorim’s pre -season and placed on the transfer list. Interest arrived from all over Europe.

« More than five clubs have called me, » Anthony added. « But as I always said that my first option was Betis. »

According to reports, Betis will pay € 22 million plus up to € 3 million wing bonuses, while United has included a 50% sales clause for each future transfer.

Anthony went to Old Trafford with 12 goals in 96 games in three seasons after failing to justify the 95 million euros fee, which made it the second most expensive signing of the club after Paul Pogba.
