The Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the New England Patriots tomorrow. Read our in-depth review here…
The New England Patriots may be beating expectations with a 7-2 record and atop the AFC East, but that didn’t stop quarterback Drake May from giving himself some truths this week.
May was highly critical of his own performance in A 24-23 win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9.
« I’ve got to play better for this team going forward, » Maye said after finishing 19 of 29 for 259 yards, with two touchdowns, one interception and one fumble. « It’s tough in a game you’re winning; you can feel in that dressing room that these guys know we can play better.
« (I’m) getting into a bad habit of trying to break games on guys I don’t have much of a chance to break games on. »
The Buccaneers enter the matchup after a bye week that allowed quarterback Baker Mayfield to overcome knee and oblique injuries.
« Definitely helps to relax, » he told the Bucs’ official website. « (I was) still moving my body around a little bit, not letting you get too sick, but also the non-contact definitely helps. »
Mayfield’s completion percentage through the first six games was 66.2 percent before dropping to 58.1 percent over the last two outings.
« It’s not really an excuse, you just (have to) get used to it, understand it and go from there, » Mayfield said of the leaning tower injury in particular. « Some throws, my feet weren’t perfect, they weren’t going to be accurate. I can usually make up for it with how I change the angle of my hands and things like that. Some of them were different, but you just have to live and learn. »
That’s a tough one to call, but we envision the refreshed Bucs to top it.
Prediction: Tampa Bay Buccaneers 26-24 New England Patriots
The New England Patriots-Tampa Bay Buccaneers game begins at 1:00 PM ET on Sunday. You can watch it on CBS in the US or on Game Pass via DAZN in the UK.
