Inter Milan recovered from a shaky opening to secure a 6-2 victory Pisa at the San Siro, a result that moves Christian Kivu’s side six points clear the top of the table.
Despite having possession throughout the game, Inter fell behind in the 11th minute when Yann Sommer misplaced a pass from the back, allowing Stefano Moreo to curl a long-range effort into an unguarded goal.
Pisa doubled their lead soon after as Moreo rose unmarked to head home from a corner, punishing a lapse in defensive organisation.
Inter’s response started with a penalty. A shot by Federico Dimarco led to a handball and Piotr Zielinski converted to reduce the deficit.
The hosts equalized shortly after when Lautaro Martinez headed in Dimarco’s cross before Francesco Pio Esposito completed the turnaround on the stroke of half-time with another header, this time from Alessandro Bastoni’s cross.
The second half followed a familiar pattern, with Inter settling into the Pisa half and creating chances at regular intervals.
However, the fourth goal did not come until the 82nd minute, after Dimarco scored on the volley after Marcus Thuram’s cross.
Dimarco then provided the assist for Ange-Joan Bony, who finished well to make it five before Henrikh Mkhitaryan added a sixth in stoppage time.
Elsewhere on Friday night, there were also two games in La Liga and the Bundesliga.
In Spain, Levante produced a thriller against Elche, running out 3-2 winners thanks to Alan Maturo’s 96th-minute winner after the visitors had leveled moments earlier.
And in Germany, St. Pauli and Hamburg drew 0-0, a result that didn’t benefit either team in the standings.
