Manchester United overcame Fulham from two goals down to win 3-2 in a thrilling encounter Premier League game.
Raul Jimenez and Kevin had silenced Old Trafford with two late goals to cancel out strikes from Casemiro and Mateusz Cunha, but Benjamin Cesko scored moments later in stoppage time to give Michael Carrick his third successive win as United caretaker manager.
The win lifts the Red Devils back up to fourth in the Premier League after they drew level with wins at top-four rivals Chelsea and Liverpool on Saturday.
He also continued Carrick’s 100% start as a temporary, having beaten Manchester City and Arsenal as well as Fulham so far since replacing Ruben Amorim.
United went ahead in the 19th minute after VAR converted a penalty into a free kick. Bruno Fernandes swung at the back post and Casemiro headed home for a corner.
Fulham had spells on the ball and threatened without breaking through, with Sene Lammens saving from Harry Wilson’s free-kick and blocking Joachim Andersen from close range, but their best chances fell short.
The home side then made it 2-0 in the 56th minute of stoppage time, Casemiro slotting a pass into the box for Cunha, who hit the roof of the net past Bernd Leno.
Jorge Cuenca then thought he had reduced the deficit when he scored from close range after a deflection, but a lengthy VAR review led to the goal being converted into an extremely powerful offside.
Cesko almost wrapped up the game just a minute after coming on, but his header crashed into the frame before sending a second into the roof of the net.
Fulham were down but certainly not out in the last 10 minutes and a chance was praying for Raul Jimenez, whose shot deflected off Harry Maguire before Sene Lammens crossed the ball before Joachim Andersen saw a header clear.
The visitors were then awarded a penalty as Maguire and Jimenez rekindled their acquaintance as the defender felled the forward with a desperate tackle.
Jimenez stomped and fired a pinpoint shot into the top corner to set up a grandstand finish at the Theater of Dreams.
And then Kevin silenced Old Trafford by finding the equalizer with a superb strike into the top corner as Carrick looked set for his first stumbling block in charge.
But Cesko fired the Red Devils back in front after bringing down Fernandez’s ball before firing it into the net.
