PSG return to the top with a 4-0 win

Paris Saint Germain eased back to the top of League 1 with a 4-0 win in Nice.

Nunu Mendes opened the scoring for PSG, with the Portuguese converting from the spot in the 42nd minute after Morgan Sanson’s handball.

Mendes then leveled Desire Doue to double their lead four minutes into the second half and the game ended as a contest after Nice’s Youssef Ndayishimiye was sent off just after the hour following a VAR review.

Late goals from Ousmane Dembele and Warien Zaire-Emery added gloss to the result as PSG move one point from the lenshaving played a game less.

Elsewhere in Ligue 1, Auxerre beat Brest 3-0 to boost their survival hopes, while Toulouse won 1-0 at Lorient.

Bayern cruise past Union Berlin

Bayern Munich maintained their nine-point lead over Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga with a 4-0 win over Union Berlin.

A superb effort from Michael Olise opened the scoring before Serge Gnabry scored twice either side of Harry Kane’s 31st goal of the campaign.

That temporarily sent Bayern into a 12-point lead, but Dortmund cut the gap back to nine with a comeback against Hamburger in the second half.

Dortmund trailed 2-0 after goals from Philippe Otele and Albert Sambi Lokonga put Hamburg in control and it looked like it would be a day to forget for the hosts when Felix Nmecha missed a penalty on the stroke of half-time.

But Rami Bensebaini halved the deficit from the spot in the 73rd minute before Serhu Girassi equalized five minutes later. The comeback was completed six minutes from time, Bensebaini repeating the trick from the spot following handball from Hamburg to keep Dortmund’s slim title hopes alive.

At the other end of the table, Werder Bremen boosted their hopes of avoiding the drop with a 1-0 win against second-bottom Wolfsburg. Bottom club Heidenheim held Bayer Leverkusen to a 3-3 draw to thwart Kasper Hullmand’s side’s Champions League aspirations. Cologne drew 3-3 with Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Milan closed the gap with Inter

AC Milan fell five points behind arch-rivals Inter in the Scudetto race after handling Torino 3-2.

Strahinja Pavlovic, Jusuf Fofana and Adrien Rabiot were on target for the Rossoneri, but Nikola Vlasic’s penalty seven minutes from time left Milan facing a nervy finish.

Inter face Fiorentina on Sunday as they look to extend the gap to eight points.

Meanwhile, Juventus dropped points at home to Sassuolo, Kenan Yildiz’s stunning opener canceled out by Andrea Pinamonti. The point moved them level with Como in the Champions League race, but Cesc Fabregas’ fourth-placed side can move three points clear of the Bianconeri by beating Pisa on Sunday.

In the relegation battle, Marco Giampaolo’s first game in charge of Cremonese ended with a 2-0 win against Parma that lifted them out of the drop zone.

There was a significant result in the battle for LaLiga survival as Elche moved out of the bottom three with a 2-1 win over fellow strugglers Mallorca. Second-bottom Levante beat bottom club Oviedo 4-2.

Valencia won 2-0 against Sevilla, while Getafe’s surprise bid for European football continued with a 2-1 win against Espanyol. Elsewhere, Osasuna beat Girona 1-0.
