Amazon Spring Sale: Typhur Dome 2 Air Fryer 30% Off

I was a I switched to air fryers of late, partly because I was worried about versatility: how many wings, bites, and fries does anyone need? (Don’t answer. The answer will expose you.)

The Typhur Dome 2 is the air fryer that erases that worry, adding pizza, grilled meats, grilled asparagus and toast to that list—not to mention the perfect crispy bacon. It is an innovative device that takes over most of the functions of a classic auxiliary oven, but with much more powerful convection.

After testing more than 30 air fryers over the past year, the Dome 2 is the one I unquestionably recommend as the most powerful, versatile, accurate and fast air fryer I know. I’ve been evangelizing about this thing since I first tried it last year. But one big caveat is always the price: It’s listed at $500 and rarely drops much below $400.

So imagine my surprise when I saw the Dome 2 drop to $340 for Amazon’s Spring Sale, the lowest price I’ve seen since Black Friday. If you’ve been looking to upgrade your old basket air fryer, now is probably a good time. The sale runs until March 31.

Fast, multi-functional app-controlled chefs

So why is the Dome 2 my favorite air fryer? Typhur, a technology company based in San Francisco but with engineering and manufacturing ties to China, reimagined the form and function of the classic basket fryer by creating a wider and shallower basket with individually controlled dual heating elements.

This means the Dome 2 has freezer pizza space and can apply direct heat from the bottom to add actual char and crispiness to the crust, sort of like a grill-oven combination. The Dome’s shallow basket also allows you to spread ingredients in a single layer for excellent airflow while heating from both sides. I can fry up two dozen wings in just 14 minutes (or 17 minutes if deep frying). The Dome also toasts bread evenly and crisps bacon without smelling the house—partly because it has a helpful self-cleaning feature.

Temperature accuracy is within 5 or 10 degrees of target, and the fan can adjust its speed depending on the cooking mode. And the smart app is actually useful, with around 50 recipes ranging from asparagus to eclairs to London flank steak that can be synced at the touch of a button. But keep in mind that some functions, like roasting, need the app to work, and the device is more of a sprayer than a higher-basket fryer.

However, the Dome 2 basket is a bit shallow for a whole bird or large roast. If you want a convection oven for larger meats, I often recommend the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro, which is among my favorite convection toaster ovens. It’s a (very) smart oven and fryer that doesn’t crisp wings and fries as well as basket fryers, but is more versatile for roasting large proteins like a whole chicken.
