Manchester City have announced that the outgoing Pep Guardiola will have a statue and stand named after him at the Etihad Stadium.
The Catalan revolutionized the club – and English football – and City are keen to leave a lasting mark. The newly expanded North Stand will be renamed the Pep Guardiola Stand and will feature a statue of the 55-year-old outside.
The Pep Guardiola Stand will be opened in its new capacity, featuring an extra 7,000 seats, for the first time in Guardiola’s final match against Aston Villa on Sunday.

City Governor Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak added: « The Pep Guardiola Stand and the statue that will stand outside it rightfully ensures that Pep’s legacy will forever be woven into the fabric of this football club, the city of Manchester and English football. »

Guardiola will remain at City Football Group in the role of ambassador, giving technical advice to the clubs in its structure, working on specific projects and collaborations.
