The musicians said they were misled by the « Great American State Fair » and released. Trump steps in

« I understand that artists get the ‘yips’ to do with their show, » Trump wrote on social media platform Truth Social Saturday, adding that he planned to bring in « the man some say is the best president in history (GOAT!), DONALD J. TRUMP, to replace these highly paid, third-rate ‘artists.’

The group behind Freedom 250, the June expo on Washington’s National Mall, confirmed the bill in a statement, writing, « We are thrilled to announce that President Trump will personally kick off this historic celebration on Wednesday, June 24. »

Trump’s social media post twice referred to him holding the rally « on Wednesday, » without specifying a specific date. The White House did not immediately clarify the discrepancy.

Danielle Alvarez, spokeswoman for Freedom 250, emphasized that the larger fair, which runs from June 25 to July 10, will include an array of exhibits, family-friendly attractions, musical acts, extravaganzas and more.

Freedom 250 is nonpartisan but was launched by Trump last year and is chaired by a former State Department appointee from Trump’s first term. Several artists including Bret MichaelsThe Commodores and Martina McBride were eliminated last week.

Michaels and other artists have said they were misled about the theme of the shows or were otherwise wary of getting into a political fray. McBride in his statement on the subject Instagramsaid he was « deprived of an opportunity to appear at a non-partisan event, but it turned out to be a fallacy. »

Other artists scheduled to participate include Flo Rida, Fab Morvan of Milli Vanilli and Vanilla Ice. A rep for the latter previously said the « Ice Ice Baby » rapper was « proud to help celebrate America’s 250th birthday! »
