Fiorentina have offloaded Bournemouth full-back Jimenez on loan

Fiorentina signed Bournemouth full-back Alex Jimenez on loan with an option to make the deal permanent.

Jimenez joined Bournemouth from Milan on loan last summer and the transfer was made permanent in February for £17m. The Spaniard signed a contract that runs until 2031.

However, Jimenez was suspended by the club pending the outcome of the investigation into social media allegations against him. He last played for Bournemouth in a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace on 3 May.

Jimenez was dropped from Bournemouth’s first-team squad after the home win over Palace over what the club called a « serious matter » related to « posts circulating on social media ».

A Bournemouth statement read: « The club wishes Alex well in the upcoming season as he links up with Fiorentina. »

Jimenez made 32 appearances for Bournemouth last season, scoring one goal.
