Lots of climbing – BionicOldGuy

I signed up for a challenge to climb 7000m (23000ft) for the month of June on Strava. The problem is that I didn’t sign up until June 19th. I figured I’d already climbed a lot this month but I forgot I don’t do a lot of solo climbing so it turns out I only have 2600m under my belt so in the last 11 days of the month I need another 4400m. I’ve been rocking ever since and so far I’ve scored another 2277 since yesterday, now I need another 2076 in 5 days. Note to self, next time join at the beginning of the month!

Last Thursday I rode northwest from Morgan Hill on a nice day.

Up half Rd past Andy’s Orchard

Saturday I meandered southwest on a foggy morning. It didn’t pick up until I was almost home.

Going down Tennant Avenue on the way home, the fog just burned off

On Tuesday, my group trip started from the Mendoza Ranch parking lot in Harvey Bear County Park. I love this ride on beautiful roads in the hills east of Gilroy. But I haven’t ridden upright that long lately due to neck issues and I don’t have a good way to transport my recumbent so I just rode it to the start. I took extra batteries just in case and needed all but one because the ride was over 4 hours for me. The good news was that I gained 723m of elevation gain.

Estates Rd on the way to Roop Rd was steeper than I remembered. This is « Gilroy Horse Country »
