Pumpkin Tree fruit puree pouches recalled due to plastic risk: FDA

PT Organics Limited is voluntary remembering select Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry fruit puree bags, sold at Target, Kroger and Meijer stores nationwide, because due to a packaging error, some bags may contain soft, food-grade plastic.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued the recall on Tuesday.

The impressive 113-gram pouches of fruit puree were sold between March 6 and July 13, according to Lake Oswego. Oregon based company.

No injuries have been reported and other Pumpkin Tree products, flavors or shelf life will not be affected, PT Organics said.

PT Organics said it had initiated the recall after its packaging supplier recalled a batch of defective bags last week.

The company said inspections of finished products confirmed that some of the bags had soft, food-grade plastic attached to the inside of the package.

According to the company, the problem was related to the packaging of the bag itself and not to the fruit puree.

Consumers can identify the recalled products by checking the barcode 8 15367 01078 0, the lane number 4 printed on the back right side seam and the expiration date of January 19, 2027; January 20, 2027; March 17, 2027; March 18, 2027; May 14, 2027; or 15 May 2027.

According to the company, the barcode, lane number and expiration date are stamped in black ink on the back of each bag.

Consumers with the recalled product should not eat it or feed it to another person.

Instead, the company said customers should dispose of the damaged bags or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
