This smart mug is probably overkill. It has a smartphone app that notifies you when your coffee has reached the ideal temperature, and its built-in light also provides a visual indicator that your drink is ready. It intelligently adjusts its power consumption to keep your drink warm when you’re around and shuts off when you’re not around. The self-heating mug is sold in several options – 10 or 14 ounces, in blue, white, black and purple.

The cup offers up to 80 minutes of powered heat-up time, or you can place it on the included charging pad to keep the battery going all day. And you don’t need smartphone app, unless you want to precisely dictate the temperature of your coffee—the cup defaults to 135 degrees Fahrenheit without your specific input.

Our main gripe is that this proprietary heating system is not dishwasher safe. You have to hand wash each component and make sure you do it carefully because the items are not cheap to replace.
